Thimbles are used to protect the steel wire rope from the high frictional forces in the contact area of the load handling, thereby extending the life of the wire rope, preventing the eye from stretching as well as breaking the rope strands. They can be used for both steel and synthetic, organic ropes. They are manufactured in accordance with the DIN 6899 B standard, from galvanized steel.
